CC Converter Privacy Policy

CC Converter is a browser extension that turns the English [CC] subtitles on netflix.com into regular subtitles. This page explains what the extension does with data. In short: CC Converter does not collect, sell or share any personal data.

1. Who makes CC Converter

CC Converter is an independent project made by zoltex999 (zoltex.dev). It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Netflix.

2. Data collected

None. CC Converter has no server, no account, no analytics, no advertising, no cookies and no tracking. It never sends your data to the developer or to anyone else.

3. Data stored on your device

To work, the extension saves the following in your browser's local extension storage. This data stays on your computer and is not synced to your account.

• Whether the extension is turned on or off.
• Your subtitle settings: font, size, weight, color, outline, background, letter spacing, position on screen and translation language.
• Proper names the extension learned from subtitles (for example a character's name), so it can write them correctly in all-caps lines. The list is limited to 1,000 names.
• A few technical markers used to recognize the English [CC] subtitle track again on the next episode (the caption style and a detection score).

The extension does not store your viewing history, the titles you watch or the subtitle text.

4. Subtitles on netflix.com

The extension runs only on https://www.netflix.com. It reads the caption text displayed by the Netflix player, rewrites it inside the page and shows the result in its place. It does not read anything else on the page, and the subtitle text never leaves your device.

5. Translation

When you pause the video and click a word, the translation is done by the translator built into your browser, which runs on your device. The text you translate is not sent to the developer. The first time you translate into a language, the browser itself may download the language model it needs; that download is handled by the browser, not by CC Converter.

6. Network requests

The extension does not load any remote code. The only request it makes is to display the author's picture in the settings window, loaded from https://zoltex.dev/media/avatar.webp without a referrer. This request contains no information about you or what you watch, but like any image request it lets that server see your IP address. The link to zoltex.dev opens only if you click it.

7. Permissions

• storage: to save the settings and data listed in section 3 on your device.
• Access to https://www.netflix.com/*: to read and rewrite the subtitles shown there. The extension runs on no other site.

8. Sharing and selling

No user data is sold, rented, shared or transferred to anyone. No data is used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness or lending purposes.

9. Deleting your data

Uninstalling CC Converter deletes everything it stored. The "Reset all" button in the settings restores the default subtitle settings at any time.

10. Children

CC Converter does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
